Good morning principal, teachers and schoolmates,
I am Chan Yan Ching of 5C. Today, I am going to share with you about the transportation infrastructure of China. How much time did it take you to Guangzhou in last decade? At least 2 hours, right? Things have been changed. Taking the high-speed rail network, you can arrive at Guangzhou in an hour. The development of transportation infrastructure and network does facilitate the fast mobility of goods and people across the country.
Over the decade, China’s transportation infrastructure network, including roads, rail, waterways, and airport systems, has undergone unprecedented growth in terms of length and quality. China has been a role model in developing highways and high-speed rail. Her high-speed rail network is a testament to the her ambitious infrastructure development efforts. In 2022, China expanded the length of high-speed railroads to 45,000 kilometers. It is now the world’s largest and most extensive high-speed rail network. Now, we can reach our capital Beijing in 8 hours, which is half of the journey time compared to the past. The high-speed rail network connects major cities across the country, offering fast, efficient and affordable transportation options for millions of people every day.
Apart from the high-speed rail network, China has also been a pioneer in the adoption of electric buses as a sustainable alternative to traditional diesel-powered vehicles. Our country is home to the world’s largest fleet of electric buses, with thousands of them operating in cities across the country, such as Beijing and Guangzhou. By transitioning to electric buses, China aims to reduce air pollution, combat climate change, and promote clean energy solutions.
In brief, from high-speed rail networks to electric buses and different smart city initiatives, China is undoubtedly one of the world leaders in transport innovation.
This is the end of my sharing. Thank you.
